This ring is designed with the motif of a traditional Japanese nail called "Makigashira-kugi," which was used in ancient Japanese architecture.
While nail-motif rings also exist in Europe, this one was created with a unique Japanese nail design.
The characteristics of a Japanese nail include a square shank and a head shaped to flatten when hammered.
Handmade Japanese nails develop rust over time after being hammered into a building. This rust causes the nail to expand, making it even more difficult to pull out.
At WAKAN, we took these characteristics of Japanese nails and created this ring with the concept of imbuing it with your goals, dreams, and beliefs, and then "hammering" those aspirations into yourself to make them come true.
