Our 3rd delivery is an ink-dyed collection using Indian Madras fabric. These items symbolically express "stillness" and "movement," the season themes for 2026SS.

What's remarkable is how much the fabric's appearance changes depending on how the light hits it. At first glance, it may seem like a plain black, but depending on the angle and amount of light, the subtle checkered pattern hidden beneath occasionally emerges. This creates an expression embodying both stillness and movement.

Why did the fabric turn out this way? Checks woven in the Madras region of India are the antithesis of uniformity and perfection; you'll find slubs, weaving flaws, and color inconsistencies here and there. While lacking the industrial correctness, this gives the fabric itself a strong energy.

And to this fabric, we intentionally applied an ink dye. We layered the heavy, quiet element of ink onto Madras, which is inherently light, airy, and has a dynamic feel. As a result, the fabric's inherent strength and roughness are not lost, creating a strange stillness, as if the tone has been forcibly muted. This is an attempt to elevate a "dynamic" material into a "still" expression.

The design deliberately intertwines the structure of Western shirts with Japanese interpretations. Despite its short length, it has a somewhat neat and tidy appearance. The heaviness of the ink dye subtly overlays the casual material. We designed this disharmony to remain as a pleasant sense of incongruity.

Material, processing, design. Each element points in a different direction, yet they are forcibly brought together in one garment. This piece, including its distortion and contradiction, expresses our stance this season.
