This project proposes art and culture using original body T-shirts as a canvas, in collaboration with various artists each season. The original body is made from combed jersey using only long staple fibers that resist skewing and pilling even after washing. The left side seam is a single seam. The back of the collar is reinforced with a taco binder. My work consists of found imagery, cut and pasted to release and reframe the original meaning of each image into a new narrative. The visibility of the old narrative in each new piece mirrors the the cycle of life. It is this synthesis of old and new, framing and re-framing, that draws me to college and its endless possibilities. Nicola Kloosterman (Johannesburg, 1976) is an analog collage artist based in the Netherlands who searches for photos and drawings to collage. Her subjects vary, including images of women's figures and faces, landscapes, photographs of the natural world, cut-out fashion magazines, vintage papers, and textiles. She continues to explore the concept of collage.
